FIFA World Cup 2022: Senegal Team Analysis
The reigning African champions, Senegal, have what it takes to succeed in Qatar FIFA World Cup. Read to know more about their team.

The current Africa Cup of Nations champions Senegal will be hoping to advance from Group A, which also includes the Netherlands, Ecuador and the host country Qatar. FIFA World Cup 2022 is about to blow away the audiences with several surprises.
Despite this being the team’s third trip at the premier sporting event, they have a World Cup pedigree. Despite shocking the world in 2002 by defeating tournament favorites France and advancing to the last eight, they disappointed the world in 2018 by exiting the group stage despite defeating Poland in their opening match.
Since 2018, at least one Senegalese player has competed in the UEFA Champions League final, representing Liverpool in 2018, 2019, and 2022 with Sadio Mane; Paris Saint-Germain in 2020 with Idrissa Gana Gueye and Abdou Diallo; and Chelsea in 2021 with Edouard Mendy.
Another reason for optimism is the stability of Senegal’s coaching staff. Since taking over in 2015, coach Aliou Cisse hopes to witness another famous era in the history of football in his country.

Aliou Cisse’s Strategy and Methods for the FIFA World Cup 2022
President Macky Sall of Senegal refers to Cisse as “El Tactico” and credits him with helping his country achieve all of its big successes abroad.
He was the team’s captain as they won their first continental title at the 2021 CAF Africa Cup of Nations. He also served as their coach in Russia in 2018 and as their captain in Korea/Japan in 2002. (AFCON). It is therefore not surprising that Cisse would lead the team representing his country on their excursion in Qatar.
Cisse believes that a solid defense is the key to success and that his team should play a practical brand of football. Even when his side is in the lead, he worries that they will be noticed.
Key Participant: Sadio Mane
What else is there to say about him, Diallo jokingly said. Mane, who is 30 years old, keeps collecting accolades at the club level. The forward from Bambali, who won the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in 2020 with Liverpool, was warmly welcomed by Bayern Munich’s adoring supporters when he joined the Bavarian club in the summer.
He’s important, said Diallo. He is the one who makes the difference and helps us win many games. With the World Cup approaching, this month will be extremely hectic. Sadio is one of those players that can turn a game around in an instant.
Watch Out for Nampalys Mendy
Mendy, one of the surprises at the continental finals a year ago, keeps acing international competition. After the quarterfinal victory over Equatorial Guinea at AFCON 2021, Cisse addressed the press, “He’s the link that’s been missing up to now.”
The pivotal Senegalese midfielder Mendy plays in a holding position right in front of the centre backs, where he does an excellent job of carrying out his duties. The Leicester City player guides play and manages the tempo. Along with using his technique to retrieve the ball and share possession, he exerts a lot of effort.
The Senegal team has been studied in this article. Senegal didn’t actually return to the global finals until 2018. A team led by Mane began their campaign against Poland full of optimism. Mbaye Niang started the scoring for the Africans, who went on to win 2-1, while donning the No. 19 jersey, the same number that goal hero Diop wore in 2002. After that, the teams drew 2-2 with Japan before losing 1-0 to Colombia. With both teams having four points after having scored four and given up four, Senegal and Japan were now tied for second place.
