Swiss success in FIFA World Cup Qatar will depend heavily on having one of Europe’s top goalkeepers and highly skilled outfield players. Over the past few years, Switzerland has experienced prosperity. The Nati defeated FIFA World Cup champions France en route to the quarterfinals of the UEFA EURO last year, where they fell to Spain on penalties.

After a brief stint at PSV, he went on to play in more than 100 Serie A games, first for AC Milan and then for Torino.
Toby Xherdan Shaqiri

The member of Yakin’s team with the most international appearances to his name—106 to be precise—along with 26 goals—is Shaqiri, who is known for his short (1.65 m) and stocky body. With 108 caps, Alain Geiger (112), and Heinz Hermann (112) ahead of him, he is ranked fourth overall (118).

While he is frequently characterized as an aggressive on-field leader who never avoids a tackle, he is a very skilled footballer who can exploit defences with a deftly weighted pass.
Remo Freuler
Position: Midfielder
Age: 30
Freuler is yet another vital cog in the Swiss centre midfield. The 30-year-old joined Atalanta in 2016 and made more than 200 appearances for the team, many of them as captain and many of them in European play. Before this season, Freuler decided to transfer to Nottingham Forest. He is still getting used to the newly promoted club, and in the East Midlands, he frequently sits on the bench.
