FIFA World Cup 2022: Teams Qualified for Qatar

As of today, all 32 teams have secured a spot in this winter’s competition after completing their qualifying runs in the FIFA World Cup 2022. The qualification rounds were finished before the actual World Cup, which will be held in November and December of this year, therefore the journey to 2022 has come to an end.

The names of the teams competing in the event are now known, and the map to the finals has been completed. The teams who have qualified for the World Cup 2022 are listed on GOAL. When Qatar won the bid to host the competition, it became the first country to automatically qualify for the 2022 World Cup. They are making their first appearance in the competition after never having reached the finals before.

Germany was the second team to earn a spot in the competition after defeating North Macedonia and winning Group J in October 2021. In October, Denmark also achieved qualification after defeating Austria 1-0 to clinch group F supremacy. Brazil defeated Colombia 1-0 to become the first South American country to advance, maintaining its position as the only nation to have appeared at every World Cup championship.

On the same day, France and Belgium were both declared the Group D and Group E winners. In a winner-take-all match, Croatia defeated Russia 1-0 to advance as the group’s victor, while Spain triumphed in group B. Serbia, on the other hand, defeated Cristiano Ronaldo and company in the final qualifier to advance to Group A at the expense of Portugal.

On November 15, England defeated San Marino in their final qualification match, winning convincingly 10-0. Harry Kane scored four goals throughout the contest. On the same day as Group C winners, Switzerland earned automatic qualification ahead of Italy.

On November 16, the Netherlands defeated Norway 2-0 to secure the final play-off berth and a trip to Qatar. Through a draw against Brazil and Chile’s loss against Ecuador in the evening, Argentina earned a spot in the tournament.

As the top two teams in Group A’s third round of AFC qualification, Iran and South Korea qualified in 2022, while Japan and Saudi Arabia qualified in March as the top two teams in Group B.

On March 24, Uruguay and Ecuador achieved qualification, becoming the third and fourth CONMEBOL sides to secure their World Cup spots.

Canada qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 1986 by becoming the first team from the CONCACAF region to seal their place in the tournament. The Black Stars made it to the World Cup for the fourth time in their history after Ghana qualified ahead of Nigeria.

In a rematch of the Africa Cup of Nations final, Senegal advanced to the World Cup by defeating Egypt. Once again, Sadio Mane and his Liverpool teammates defeated Mohamed Salah and Egypt to secure their place in Qatar. Portugal, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, advanced to the World Cup after defeating North Macedonia in the play-off match.

Poland also secured their position in a play-off, defeating Sweden to secure travel to Qatar. Tunisia and Morocco have already confirmed that they will go as top-ranked Mali and DR Congo, respectively. Karl Toko Ekambi’s 124th-minute goal against Algeria helped Cameroon advance and become a hero in his home country.
