FIFA World Cup 2022: The Squad of Qatar

The FIFA World Cup 2022 is set to begin from 20 November and in the first match in ‘Group A’, the Qatar team will encounter Ecuador. The Qatar National Football team has been placed in Group A with Ecuador, Senegal and Netherlands. 

Team of Qatar 

The Qatar National Football team is said to be controlled by the Qatar Football Association and AFC. According to reports, Qatar national team played its first official match on March 27, 1970, against hosts Bahrain. However, in the year of 1992 Qatar registered one of their greatest achievements by winning the 1992 Gulf Cup. Later in 2000, they successfully achieved the Gulf Cup once again, which sparked a revival of a new generation of young Qatari footballers.

Moreover, in 2014 they registered another Gulf Cup Championship to their names. Also, that year has been a great one for the team as they became the Asian U19 winners that year, as well as the squad achieved victory at the West Asia Football Federation. The team has appeared in nearly ten Asian Cup tournaments and have achieved victory once in 2019. The national team is further said to play its first FIFA World Cup qualifying match in 1977, and became the champions when Doha hosted the tournament in the year of 2004. Furthermore, 2019 brought more success to the team as they had an excellent campaign at the 2019 Asian Cup. The team ended up winning the final against Japan, which marked their first ever major tournament title in their history. The country is all set to host the FIFA World Cup of 2022.
