FIH Pro League 2024-25 will start on February 15 where they will face England, and the event ends on February 25. The league is an international women’s field hockey league which started in 2019 and has been held biannually since then. It serves as a qualifier for the Hockey World Cup. India debuted in the league in the 2021-2022 edition and won a bronze medal, however, they were placed 8th in the 2023-24 edition.
India is set to face challenging competition from unbeatable teams like England, Netherlands and Spain. They will be facing each team twice during the tournament. India announced the 24-member Indian Women’s Hockey Team on January 29, 2025, with Salima Tete being the captain and Navneet Kaur as the vice-captain. The match will take place at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium.
Indian Women’s Hockey Team: Squad Analysis

India announced its 24-member team and as per the FIH regulations, if a team has more than 4 matches, then they are allowed to revise the team once those matches are over. However, the team can only be changed according to the pre-approved substitution list.
The Indian Women’s Hockey Team’s substitutes listed by Hockey India include goalkeeper Banwari Solanki, defenders Akshata Abaso Dhekale and Jyoti Singh, and forwards Sakshi Rana, Annu, and Sonam. Sonam stands a better chance after an outstanding performance in the Women’s Hockey India League 2024-2025 edition, where she finished as the second-top scorer.
The squad features goalkeepers, Savita and Bichu Devi Kharibam and Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, Nikki Pradhan, Udita, Jyoti, Ishika Chaudhary, Jyoti Chhatri as defenders.
Midfielders include Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke, Neha, Manisha Chauhan, Salima Tete, Sunelita Toppo, Lalremsiami, Baljeet Kaur, Sharmila Devi while the forwards being Navneet Kaur, Mumtaz Khan, Preeti Dubey, Rutaja Dadaso Pisal, Beauty Dungdung, Sangita Kumari, Deepika, Vandana Katariya.

The chief coach, Harendra Singh said, “We are pleased with the squad we have selected for the Bhubaneswar leg of the FIH Pro League 2024-25. This team brings a good blend of experienced players and exciting young talent, which will be crucial as we face top-level competition in the tournament. Our focus has been on building a balanced squad with strong options in every position.”
“I am particularly excited to see how some of the younger players perform, especially those who have shown great promise in the Women’s Hockey India League. We are confident in the team’s preparation and believe we have the potential to deliver strong performances against some of the best teams in the world,” he added.
