Finn Allen set the stage on fire with a record-breaking 151 runs from only 51 balls, one of the most destructive innings to have taken place in T20 cricket. What was so impressive about his inning was that it was a record-breaking effort of hitting 19 sixes, breaking the previous record of 18 sixes set by cricketing legends Chris Gayle and Sahil Chauhan.

Allen’s Lightning-Fast Fifty

Right from the first ball, Finn Allen was in all-attack mode. Playing the opening batsman in the company of his fellow New Zealander Tim Seifert, Allen didn’t take long to project his dominance. Before the powerplay ended, Allen had sprinted to 40 runs from a mere 14 balls, among them five sixes towering overhead.

His scorching half-century was achieved in only 20 balls, and he went on to go even faster to achieve his fourth T20 century in his career in only 34 balls. This record not only became the fastest century in MLC history but also broke the record of the previous record holder, Nicholas Pooran, who had achieved his century in 40 balls last season.

Historic 150 Runs in 49 Balls: Finn Allen Smashes Gayle’s Record

Allen’s biggest breakthrough was when he reached 150 runs off only 49 balls, creating a record for the fastest 150 in T20 cricket. This shattered Chris Gayle’s long-standing record for fastest 150, which was achieved while he had made 150 runs off 50 balls in his legendary 175* against IPL. Allen’s record was reached with his 19th six of the match, a stunning pull shot over deep midwicket.

Total Domination: No Bowler Safe from Finn Allen’s Power

Allen was brutal in his demolition of the Washington Freedom bowlers. He destroyed the experienced Mitchell Owen, smashing him for four sixes during a match-winning rampage, one of which took him to his century. Left-arm bowler Saurabh Netravalkar was sent on his way for three huge sixes, and even spinner Glenn Phillips couldn’t get away with Allen, the Kiwi batter smashing him for three sixes in a row in one over.

Record-Breaking Knock Comes to an End at 151 Runs

Following his record 151-run knock, Finn Allen was finally out in the 18th over, caught off the bowling of Mitchell Owen by Glenn Phillips. His bid to score a 20th six came up short, but his record-breaking knock had already created several T20 records.

San Francisco Unicorns Create New MLC Record with 269/5

With Finn Allen’s rampage knock, the San Francisco Unicorns put up a record-breaking total of 269/5 in the United States men’s T20 history. The total smashed all MLC and American T20 records and made a strong statement in their season’s opening game.

Finn Allen: A Destructive Force in T20 Cricket

With more than 4,100 T20 runs and an impressive strike rate of 173.27, Finn Allen is among the most destructive batsmen in modern cricket. This comes after his record-breaking 137-run innings against Pakistan in January 2024, during which he slammed 16 sixes, equalling the T20I record for most sixes in an innings.

Even after being ignored by the Indian Premier League (IPL) for three consecutive years, Finn Allen has now made his presence felt on the international stage with his record-breaking MLC performance.

Finn Allen’s Historic MLC 2025 Performance

With his unbelievable 151-run innings in the opening match of MLC 2025, Finn Allen has displayed exactly why he is a valuable asset to teams in T20 format competitions. Not only did he break record books with his record setting innings, he also solidified himself as one of the most explosive hitters in modern cricket.
