In the history of the Hockey India League (HIL), the scoring charts have been heavily influenced by world-class drag-flickers and clinical forwards. With the league’s revival in 2024–25, these all-time records now span the original “golden era” (2013–2017) and the modern revamped tournament.
The following foreign players hold the highest overall goal tallies in the history of the league:
1. Ashley Jackson (England) – 50 Goals
Ashley Jackson is the most iconic foreign player in HIL history. As the talisman for the Ranchi Rhinos and later the Ranchi Rays, he was a master of both penalty corners and field play.
The Brit scored 50 goals across 5 seasons. He led Ranchi to two titles (2013 and 2015) and consistently ranked in the top three scorers every year he played.
2. Glenn Turner (Australia) – 42 Goals
The Australian striker was a nightmare for defenders, primarily representing the Kalinga Lancers. He has scored a total of 42 goals in his Hockey India League career.
In 2016, he became the first player to exploit the “field goal counts as two” rule effectively, finishing as the league’s joint-top scorer with 16 goals (under the double-point system).
3. Gonzalo Peillat (Argentina/Germany) – 41 Goals
Peillat is widely regarded as one of the greatest drag-flickers in the world. He played for the Kalinga Lancers and Uttar Pradesh Wizards in the original run and returned for the Hyderabad Toofans in the 2024–25 season.
He has scored 41 goals in HIL (33 from 2014–2017 + 8 in 2024–25). He is the only player on this list to have scored significantly in both the original and the revamped versions of the league.
4. Florian Fuchs (Germany) – 32 Goals
The German forward was one of the most expensive and successful overseas signings for Dabang Mumbai. He scored 32 goals in HIL history
He was named the Player of the Tournament in 2017 after a stellar season where his speed and poaching ability kept Mumbai at the top of the table.

5. Moritz Fürste (Germany) – 28 Goals
The legendary German captain was the heart of the Ranchi franchises. He found the net on 28 occasions for the team.
While his goal tally is slightly lower than the pure strikers, many of his goals were high-pressure penalty strokes or late equalizers that led his team to multiple championships.
