Former NBA and CBA player Maurice Ndour joins Israel’s Hapoel Jerusalem

Israel’s Hapoel Jerusalem, a prominent team in FIBA Champions League, strengthens its lineup with the signing of former NBA and CBA player Maurice Ndour. Learn about Ndour’s basketball journey and his role in the team’s upcoming matches.

Maurice Ndour, a former NBA player who has also played in China, has joined Israel’s Hapoel Jerusalem, a team currently competing in the FIBA Champions League and holding the State Cup.

The 31-year-old Senegalese played basketball in college at Monroe College and Ohio University before spending one season with Real Madrid in the EuroLeague, where he won the Spanish league and cup in 2016.

After that, he joined the New York Knicks, where in 32 NBA games, he averaged 3.1 points and 2 assists.

He came back to Europe in 2017 and played for Rytas Vilnius, Valencia Basket, and UNICS Kazan.

He joined the Zhejiang Golden Bulls of the Chinese Basketball Association in 2021, where he played in three postseason games and averaged 10.8 points and 5.6 rebounds over the course of eight games.

Later, he played for Galatasaray, Nagoya Diamond of Japan, and Guangxi Weizhuang of China’s second-tier National Basketball League before going back to Rytas.

“I am excited about the opportunity to represent this amazing Jerusalem club,” Ndour said. “I’m already looking forward to playing in front of all the fans.”

Jerusalem head coach Aleksandar Dzikic added, “Our squad is completed after a long selection process. Maurice is an experienced and versatile player who will suit us on and off the court.”
