Former Pakistani Cricketers React to Imran Khan’s Arrest

Former Pakistani Captain and Prime Minister, Imran Khan was arrested. Here is how former Pakistani cricketers reacted to his arrest.

Imran Khan was arrested in Pakistan on the 9th of May. Khan served as the Prime Minister of Pakistan from 2018 till April 2022. He was a brilliant cricketer as well. In 1982 he was handed the captaincy of the national team as well and he even led the Pakistan team in the 1992 ODI World Cup. Pakistan emerged victorious in the 1992 Cricket World Cup.

His arrest caused havoc in the public and started protests in the country. Pakistani Rangers detained Imran Khan as he appeared before the Islamabad High Court on May 9 to request bail on seven counts. He was in the middle of some biometric process when the Pakistani rangers arrested him and dragged him to Rangers’ vehicle. The public attacked the police headquarters in protest over the former Pakistani prime minister’s imprisonment. According to reports, all private schools in Pakistan are closed, and Twitter is unavailable there as well.

Former Pakistan cricket players were also upset by Imran’s incarceration in addition to the general population. After seeing footage of Imran’s arrest, Shoaib Akhtar reportedly expressed amazement and called the former Pakistan captain a national hero.

Former fast bowlers Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis also reacted to Imran Khan’s arrest. Akram said that Imran Khan has the strength of millions behind him.

Current Pakistani bowler star bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi also showed his love for Imran Khan. He changed his Twitter display picture. Shaheen Afridi changed his display picture to a picture with Imran Khan.

Mohammad Hafeez who retired from International Cricket in January 2022 called Imran Khan’s arrest a painful and condemnable act.
