Former Pakistani Skipper Leaves Cricket To Prioritise Mental Health: Former Pakistan women’s cricket captain Nida Dar has taken a break from all cricket to focus on her mental health. She is the first Pakistani player to do this openly. Nida said personal and professional struggles have affected her well-being, leading to her decision.

The former captain has asked for privacy while she focuses on her health.

Announcing her decision on Instagram, Nida Dar posted, “After careful consideration, I have decided to take a temporary break from cricket to prioritize my mental health and well-being. Recent personal and professional challenges have taken a toll on my mental health, and I need to take some time to focus on myself.”

I appreciate your understanding and respect for my privacy during this time. I am grateful for the support of my loved ones and look forward to returning to the cricket field when I am ready.”

Nida Dar’s announcement came during a crucial

Dar decided to take a break from cricket at a time when the women’s team is celebrating a big achievement. They won five matches in a row in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier and earned a spot in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.

A 38-year-old Pakistani all-rounder has retired after playing 112 ODIs and 160 T20Is, becoming the country’s most capped T20I player and first to take 100 T20I wickets.

PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi said the women’s team won’t go to India for the 2025 World Cup unless a hybrid model is used. This comes after a deadly terror attack in Kashmir. Reports of BCCI asking ICC to avoid India-Pakistan matches were denied by a BCCI official.
