Formula 1 could once again bring all ten teams together for a single, large-scale season launch event, as CEO Stefano Domenicali has hinted at the possible return of the concept first seen during the sport’s 75th anniversary celebrations.
In 2025, the championship marked a major milestone with the “F1 75” event in London. Hosted at the iconic The O2 Arena, the show saw every team unveil its new livery on the same stage. It was a clear break from tradition, as teams usually reveal their cars separately through individual events or digital launches.
A Global Showcase Beyond Just Car Reveals
Rather than just being a display of fresh styles, the experience contained live acts from performers both on the stage and off, making it a huge production in itself. The intention was to provide a spectacle for this year-end launch of the season’s new collection that resembled a global event through team unity.
The objective of this event was for Formula 1 to create one unified moment that drew worldwide attention, as Stefano Domenicali said, “this event will have a great communication effect on the whole world”, stating that the result would be similar in magnitude to that of another weekend race in respect to global visibility.
Mixed Formula 1 Fans’ Reactions
Although lots of Formula 1 fans loved the collective celebration and the celebratory atmosphere of the event, views within the paddock varied. Some saw this new and updated method as a way to expand the appeal of the sport to a larger group of people, while others believed that the conventional manner of launching the teams (team by team) provided an equal level of attention to the technical aspects of each team.
There are many logistical obstacles to organising such a large event. Before the start of any season, teams are all on very tight timelines and are focused on finalising their cars for racing, fulfilling sponsor obligations, and testing prior to the start of the season. Coordinating 10 teams for a single global event will require extensive planning and agreement from all parties.
A Possible Comeback on the Horizon
Discussions are now underway about whether the joint launch could return for the 2027 season. Domenicali made it clear that the idea is still under evaluation, but he did not rule it out.
If revived, the concept would underline Formula 1’s continued efforts to combine sport and entertainment in a way that attracts both loyal followers and new fans. Over recent years, the championship has increasingly focused on expanding its global presence and presenting the sport in innovative ways.
For now, no final decision has been made.
