Ferrari has announced that Fred Vasseur will continue as their Team Principal through a new multi-year contract extension. This news ended all doubts and rumors about his future with the iconic F1 team, and the potential recruitment of Christian Horner after his sacking at Red Bull.

Fred Vasseur joined Ferrari at the start of the 2023 Formula 1 season. Before this, he successfully led the Sauber F1 team. Since taking charge, Vasseur has worked hard to rebuild Ferrari’s competitiveness and team spirit. His leadership was the key in convincing seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton to join Ferrari in 2025, a move that brought the world’s attention and more experience to the team.

“His ability to lead under pressure, embrace innovation, and pursue performance aligns fully with Ferrari’s values and long-term ambitions. Under Fred’s leadership, Ferrari is united, focused, and committed to continuous improvement. The trust placed in him reflects the team’s confidence in its strategic direction and reinforces a shared determination to deliver the results that Ferrari’s fans, drivers, and team members expect and deserve,” the team said in a statement confirming Vasseur’s future at Ferrari.

Benedetto Vigna Praises Fred Vasseur

Ferrari’s CEO, Benedetto Vigna, praised Vasseur’s leadership, saying that the contract renewal reflects the strong trust the team has in him. He said, “Today we want to recognize what has been built and commit to what still needs to be achieved. It reflects our trust in Fred’s leadership – trust rooted in shared ambition, mutual expectations, and clear responsibility. We move forward with determination and focus, united in our pursuit of the level of performance Ferrari has to aim for.”

Over the past two and a half years under Fred Vasseur, Ferrari has laid a strong foundation. In 2024, the team won five races and came very close to ending its long drought without a constructors’ championship. However, in 2025, Ferrari is facing many challenges, especially with car performance and reliability issues, leading to a winless streak in the first part of the season.

Despite these setbacks, Fred Vasseur remains determined to push the team forward. He describes the contract extension as more than just a confirmation of his role; it is a challenge to keep improving, stay focused, and deliver results.

He said, “I’m grateful for the trust Ferrari continues to place in me. This renewal is not just a confirmation – it’s a challenge to keep progressing, to stay focused, and to deliver. Over the past 30 months, we’ve laid strong foundations, and now we must build on them with consistency and determination. We know what’s expected, and we’re all fully committed to meeting those expectations and taking the next step forward together.”
