  1. The 1950 FIFA World Cup match had the most spectators ever. Brazil and Uruguay competed in the World Cup final.

There were officially 173,850 attendees for the World Cup final. Some, however, contend that this figure is unreliable and assert that between 199,854 and 200,000 people were squeezed into Rio de Janeiro’s Maracana Stadium.

This game was also infamous for the fact that many Brazilian fans committed suicide after their team lost because of it.
