Put in to bat first, GAW were reeling at 27/3 in the powerplay. However, Moeen Ali managed to stabilize the innings with a hard-fought 40 off 38 deliveries while also managing to keep one end intact. He was well supported by Sherfane Rutherford who hit a quick 33 off 23 powerplay deliveries, hitting the boundary frequently to give the innings some momentum.

Late bursts of fireworks were provided by Romario Shepherd, whose 9-ball 15 took the total to a fighting 138/7. The top bowler for DC was Kaleem Sana, who took 4 for 31, including an impeccable spell in the death overs where he took three vital wickets to slow down Amazon Warriors’ late charge.

Pursuing 139, Dubai Capitals never really gained traction. Both the openers were knocked over cheaply as Shepherd and Dwaine Pretorius kept things tight at the beginning. With scoreboard pressure building, Imran Tahir brought his experience and guile into play, wrecking the middle order with a spell of 4 for 12 in 3.4 overs.

The only fight was put up by Sediqullah Atal and Niroshan Dickwella, who added 27 runs in a 12-ball stand. Their Free Spirit helped to keep hope alive in DC for a while, but after they got out in quick succession, the match dissolved completely.

From 36 for 1, DC lost way dramatically to 66 for 8, before finally being bundled out for 81 in 15.4 overs.
