The German Open 2026 will take place in Mülheim, Germany, from 24 February to 1 March 2026.
This will be the fifth tournament of the 2026 BWF World Tour and is part of the German Open championships, which have been held since 1955. The event is organized by Vermarktungsgesellschaft Badminton Deutschland (VBD) mbH for the German Badminton Association with sanction from the BWF.
This tournament will be held at the Westenergie Sporthalle in Mülheim, Germany.
Former world No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth will lead India’s change at German Open 2026. The 32nd in the men’s singles badminton rankings enters the tournament after two quarter-final exits at the India Open and Indonesia Masters earlier this year. Earlier this month, he won both of his singles rubbers for India at the Badminton Asia Team Championships.
Kiran George and Tharun Mannepalli are other Indian players who will feature in the men’s singles main draw.
George is set to face Olympian and world No. 5 Christo Popov of France- the top seed- in the opening round.
World No. 40 Tanvi Sharma headlines India’s squad in the women’s singles in the absence of two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu.
Tanvi Sharma, who finished as runners-up in the BWF World Junior Championships and the US Open last year, will be joined by Tasnim Mir, Malvika Bansod, Rakshitha Ramraj and Isharani Baruah in the women’s singles main draw.
Ashwini Bhat and Shikha Gautam are the sole pair from India in the women’s doubles main draw.
There is no Indian representation in the men’s and mixed doubles main draws at the German Open 2026.
