Grealish, Haaland Thrash Wolves As Manchester City Go top

Jack Grealish scored his first shot this season. Meanwhile, Erling Haaland continued his goal streak as Manchester City blanked Wolves 3-0 on Saturday. Pep Guardiola’s side took just 56 seconds to take the lead at Molineux.

The English winger joined the party after not scoring in the past games. City continued to dominate in the league and moved past a 10-man Wolves to sit in the top position in the team standings. They are two points clear of the second-placed Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Haaland scored his 14th goal in 10 matches in all competitions. The Norway star moved from Dortmund to City following a $58 million move. The 22-year-old has netted in seven successive games so far for the City. He is reaping rich rewards for Guardiola’s men with his stunning show. He won the Premier League Player of the Month in August. Haaland is also the frontrunner for the award in September.

Manchester City is cruising ahead in EPL

Manchester City is hungry to win the title for the fifth time in six seasons. They are unbeaten in 22 away league matches. The City last lose against Tottenham in their opener last season. However, Wolves lost a chance for a fightback as Nathan Collins got sent off for a stomach-high foul in the first half. 

Earlier, Kevin De Bruyne’s low cross was perfectly placed for Grealish, who timed his run to strike it from close range. Haaland doubled the lead in the 16th minute. It was also his first goal from outside the area. This became Haaland’s 100th goal in his last 99 games in all competitions.

Foden added City’s third goal in the 69th minute, arriving in the six-yard box to flick in another De Bruyne’s cross. The Belgian star’s performance in the game was noteworthy, as he helped to score two goals for the EPL winners. Manchester City is going to meet Manchester United next, on October 2.
