GT IPL 2025: Who Should They Retain With Their RTM Card
After reaching the IPL finals in both 2022 and 2023, the Gujarat Titans (GT) had a tough season recently. Losing their star leader Hardik Pandya to the Mumbai Indians, the team struggled under the new captain, Shubman Gill. Despite being previous champions, they couldn’t make it to the playoffs and seemed far from their best.
However, the Titans are looking ahead positively. They have retained some important players, including Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan, Sai Sudharsan, Rahul Tewatia, and Shahrukh Khan. With both uncapped retention slots already used, they have one capped RTM card left for the IPL 2025 auction.
Here are three players Gujarat Titans might consider bringing back with their RTM card:
Noor Ahmad has been a rising star for GT. He worked brilliantly with Rashid Khan in the spin department during IPL 2024. Since then, he has continued to impress, including a standout season in the Caribbean Premier League.
Noor offers versatility with his bowling, able to perform in various phases of the game. He also adds value with his lower-order hitting, which is an extra advantage. With GT’s home ground not favoring spinners, his high-quality performances make him a perfect fit.
As the IPL 2025 auction approaches, Gujarat Titans have some tough decisions to make. Their choices will determine whether they can bounce back and reclaim their status as title contenders.
David Miller might not be at his peak anymore, but his experience and power make him a valuable asset. A left-handed batter who is solid against both spin and pace, Miller has been a consistent performer for GT in the past three seasons.
Even though his form has dipped slightly, finding a replacement with his skill set and experience in the middle order won’t be easy. Miller’s ability to deliver under pressure still makes him a strong contender for retention.
Mohammed Shami has been a key player for Gujarat, especially with the new ball. Though he recently returned from an ankle injury, his ability to swing the ball and dominate in the powerplay has been crucial for GT’s success in the past.
Shami’s performances under the lights in Ahmedabad were instrumental in Gujarat’s finals appearances in 2022 and 2023. Despite injury concerns, his value as an experienced pacer could make him worth the risk for the Titans.
