In an exciting match between the Gujarat Giants vs Patna Pirates at the Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium, the Giants were able to escape with an important 40-32 win in order to keep alive their chances of finishing among the top eight clubs in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12.
The win was powered by Mohammadreza Shadloui’s all-round brilliance and a Super 10 from Super Sub Himanshu Singh, who together ensured the Giants registered their third win in four matches. Despite Mandeep Kumar’s Super 10, the Patna Pirates lost a closely fought game.
Gujarat Giants vs Patna Pirates, First Half: Shadloui, Himanshu, and Lucky Sharma Give Giants the Edge
The match began with a twist in that surprising Shadloui would open Cleveland’s and Gujarat’s, scoring with a raid point. Patna would respond with Ayan, but Rakesh Sungroya would then follow up with a two-point raid that would provide the Giants an early push. Patna would retaliate with Ankit Jaglan, followed by Mandeep Kumar, and Navdeep, they too would finish with a small two-point lead.
Gujarat’s defense turned the game back. A Super Tackle by Lucky Sharma, followed by a successful tackle by Shadloui and another two-point raid by Rakesh, produced a 10-5 lead for the Giants. While Mandeep retaliated with a Super Raid, Gujarat led 12-8 at the ten-minute mark.
Himanshu Singh put in vital raid points while Nitin Panwar’s tackle resulted in the match’s first ALL OUT as Gujarat went into the halftime with a 23-17 advantage. Mandeep Kumar touched his Super 10, but didn’t have sufficient support from his teammates.

With the clock running out, Patna would not concede. A Super Tackle by Ankit Jaglan cut Gujarat’s advantage to 33-30 with just minutes left. Ankit Rana then moved the Pirates within two points to set up a tense final minute.
Despite this, Shadloui came up big yet again with a two-point raid that completely changed the match and another ALL OUT to finalize the result at 40-32 in favor of Gujarat. His work at both ends of the mat once again proved he was one of the most valuable players in PKL.
