Haider Ali Suspended By PCB: Under Investigation For Greater Manchester Police Investigation

Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali is facing a serious investigation after the Greater Manchester Police (GMP) opened a criminal inquiry against him. The investigation is about a reported incident that took place while the Pakistan Shaheens were on their recent tour of the United Kingdom, which ended earlier this week.

Following the ongoing investigation, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released a public statement confirming the provisional suspension of Haider Ali. The PCB stated that the suspension is immediate and will last until the conclusion of the legal process.

“The PCB has been made aware of a criminal investigation currently being conducted by the Greater Manchester Police involving cricketer Haider Ali,” read the board statement.

The board also ensured that Haider is receiving legal assistance so that his rights are safeguarded in the entire UK legal process.

PCB’s Position on Legal Process and Future Action

The PCB showed utmost respect for the law of the UK and declared its intention to permit the investigation to go through due process. It further suggested that further disciplinary action under its Code of Conduct would be taken depending on the result of the investigation.

“The PCB fully respects the legal procedures and processes of the United Kingdom and acknowledges the importance of allowing the investigation to run its due course. Accordingly, the PCB has decided to place Haider Ali under provisional suspension, effective immediately, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation. Once the legal proceedings are concluded and all facts have been duly established, the PCB reserves the right to take appropriate action under its Code of Conduct, if necessary.”

Haider Ali’s Role on the UK Tour

Haider is 24 years old, is a senior player in terms of experience, and has played for Pakistan in 2 ODIs and 35 T20Is. He played in three 50-over matches as part of the Pakistan Shaheens tour of the UK versus a first-class XI, along with two three-day matches.
