Harpreet Brar in a thrill ride at the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024, Punjab managed to clinch the game in spectacular fashion in a tie match against Mizoram, by all-round performance from its all-rounder, Harpreet Brar. The contest was witnessed at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot.
The cricketing world experienced Brar’s fireworks when batting to end the innings, thereby securing victory through the Super Over for the Punjab team.
Harpreet Brar puts up a great all-round performance in SMAT saving Punjab

Mizoram won the toss and chose to bat first. They scored a challenging total of 176/5 in their 20 overs. Agni Chopra was the top scorer for Mizoram with a well-made 52 runs, while Mohit Jangra gave them excellent support with a crucial 67 runs. The Mizoram batting display left Punjab with a target of 177 runs to chase.
Punjab’s reply was equally thrilling. Chasing a target of 177, they found themselves needing 24 runs from the final four balls. At this stage, Harpreet Brar was on strike and delivered a remarkable performance. On the first two balls, Brar dispatched the ball to the boundary with a four and then hit a six, reducing the required runs significantly.
The next ball was wide, which added an extra run, and Brar followed that up with two more sixes on the remaining two balls. And so, the match ended in a tie, the scores level at 176/7 after 20 overs.
The Super Over thriller

With the match leveled, the contest went into a Super Over. Punjab, after such an exciting finish, easily knocked off Mizoram in the Super Over and won the match by 7 runs. This win handed Punjab a much-needed win in the Group A battle.
