Harry Redknapp picks PL title contenders for Manchester City

Harry Redknapp has named his Premier League title contenders for the 2023-24 season. Manchester City edged out Arsenal in the previous season to win the Premier League. The Gunners spent nearly 250 days at the first position, but poor performances in the last few games and a lack of depth in the squad saw them losing to the Cityzens by five points. The Pep Guardiola-managed club went on to win the treble in the previous season.

Harry Redknapp’s title contenders

Redknapp has picked Arsenal as his favourite to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title in the 2023/24 season. The former West Ham manager believes that with the signings that the Mikel Arteta-managed club has made, they will be having a better chance at challenging Manchester City. Talking about the Declan Rice signing the former West Ham manager said, “I am sorry to see him [Rice] leave West Ham, I was hoping he would stay at West Ham for another couple of years at least. I think he will certainly improve Arsenal’s chances of finishing above Man City next year which is not easy, Man City will be red-hot favourites again. But, Arsenal has made a couple of good signings; Declan Rice, (Kai) Havertz. I think Arsenal will be very strong next year and I see them as the main challengers to Man City for sure.”

Redknapp believes that Declan Rice will be the life and soul of the Gunners’ dressing room. While talking about the ex-West Ham captain, Redknapp said, “He’s a bubbly personality. He’s got a couple in the Arsenal team playing the England team with him. So he’ll adapt very quickly. He will be the life and soul of the dressing room for sure.”

Arsenal signings

Since the last season Arsenal has benefitted a lot from their signings. Last season they signed Manchester City stars, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko and Chelsea midfielder Jorginho. Martin Odegaard has also proven to be a great signing for the North London club. With Granit Xhaka out of the team and Thomas Partey expected to leave the midfield department needed big signings and they made sure to have a great bunch of midfielders ready. The signings of Havertz and Rice will certainly improve the quality of the team and experts and pundits believe that they can finally win the title after their famous invincible title in 2003/04.
