In the World Boxing Cup 2025, Nupur Sheoran won gold in the women’s 80+ kg category and dedicated her victory to her father and coach Sanjay Sheoran. Haryana’s Sakshi Chaudhary and Jaismine Lamboriya also climbed the podium and gave full credit to their mentors who supported them from day one. This year’s tournament clearly showed that success in the ring comes not only from talent but also from the people who guide you through every step.
Nupur Sheoran’s Gold at World Boxing Cup is a Story of Father and Coach in One
At just 12 years old, Nupur Sheoran stepped into the world of boxing when her father asked her if she wanted to become a boxer. That one question began a journey built on trust and training. Her father Sanjay Kumar Sheoran, a former international boxer himself, became her coach and mentor in sport and life.
Nupur says that her father plays both roles perfectly. During training, he acts like a tough coach. At home, he becomes a caring father. After winning the gold medal, when she tried to take it easy for a day, her father reminded her, “That’s enough rest. Get back to training.”
She laughs while saying, “I get scolded a lot.” But she knows it keeps her grounded. Her father also jokes, “What can I do, she is a bit mischievous but she’s an A+ student.”
Sakshi Chaudhary Wins with Discipline Learned from Jagdish Singh
Sakshi Chaudhary dominated the 54kg final but says the credit goes to her coach Jagdish Singh. She began watching boxing on TV and was inspired by Vijender Singh’s Olympic medal in 2008. That moment pushed her to take boxing seriously. Luckily, the same coach who trained Vijender became her guide.
Sakshi says that coach Jagdish taught her everything from technique to mindset. But one line stayed with her the most – “Without discipline, you get nothing. Whether you win or lose, never let go of discipline.”
She says she wants to become a student her coach can always be proud of. Her coach also respects her equally and says, “Her dedication and humility are something I want all my students to learn from.”
Jaismine Lamboria’s Journey Started with Her Uncles, Not a Camp
Jaismine Lamboria won gold in the 57kg category but her boxing story began at home. Her first mentors were her two uncles, Parvinder and Sandeep Lamboriya, who were boxers themselves.
As a young girl, Jaismine used to go watch their boxing matches. She did not even know she had boxing talent until her uncles noticed it. They were the first to bring her into the ring and trained her with full focus, never letting her feel alone.
She proudly says, “They used to tell me, just play your game, both your uncles are always with you.” Back then she was their biggest fan. Today, they are hers. And no matter how far she goes, she says her first gurus will always be them.
Mentors Made the Difference at World Boxing Cup 2025
This year’s World Boxing Cup was not just about strength or medals. It was about the strong relationships between players and their mentors. Whether it was Nupur’s father, Sakshi’s coach, or Jaismine’s uncles, each one showed how important guidance and emotional support are in building a champion. These stories prove that behind every winner, there is a mentor who made it possible.
