It was on Saturday the Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar announced the cash prize of 6 crores along with a government job to India’s gold-winning Olympian Neeraj Chopra. It recorded India’s first Olympic gold medal in athletics.

India’s Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra came from the Panipat District of Haryana state created history by winning the gold medal in Olympics. He threw the javelin at a distance of 87.58 meters. By winning the gold medal, he now became the second Indian to win the Individual gold medal at the Olympics.

Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar congratulated India’s Olympic gold medal winner and he said he not only won the medal but also the heart of the whole country.

Haryana CM said that “The country was waiting for this moment for a long time, and the whole country is proud of him”.

Khattar also spoke to Neeraj’s father Satish Chopra on the phone.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh too congratulated Neeraj Chopra for winning India’s first Olympic gold medal athletics.

Congratulating India’s javelin throw gold winner Rajnath Sigh said “Gold medal in javelin throw event at the Olympics is unprecedented. Proud of him for creating history”.

Defence Minister further said that Neeraj Chopra who won the gold medal in Subedar with Rajputana Rifles in the Indian Army has brought greatness for the Indian Army. Defence Minister also added by saying Neeraj Chopra performed like a true soldier in the Tokyo Olympics.

Rajnath Singh stated that “It is indeed a historic and proud moment for the entire country, including the Indian armed forces! Many congratulations to him”.

All the members in the ranks of the forces including the Indian Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane for his historic achievement. Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh also congratulated the Indian Olympian for his historic achievement.

The chief minister tweeted that “Gold! Neeraj Chopra… you have created history and made the whole country proud”.
He also added by saying “Your 87.58m winning throw today will be part of the legend of the Track and Field arena. India woes you Jai Hind “.

India’s javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra set a new benchmark holding two athletes Czech Republic to finish atop the podium. The silver and bronze medals in the javelin throw competition of the Tokyo Olympics were won by Jakub Vadlejch and Vitezslav and Vesely respectively.

It was the same Neeraj Chopra who became the first athlete from India in the year 2018 to win gold javelin throw both in Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.
