ICC Code of Conduct says that rule-breaking could mean that a player faces heavy fines. Often players have lost their calm and cool and have landed themselves in trouble because they breached the ICC Code of Conduct. Here are some instances when Indian cricketers lost their calm and paid heavy fines.

  • Rishabh Pant, Pravin Amre and Shardul Thakur

Rishabh Pant was involved in an incident where he along with Pravin Amre and Shardul Thakur were penalised and paid heavy fines. During an IPL game in 2022 against Rajasthan Royals the Delhi Capitals trio including skipper Pant, coach Pravin Amre and Thakur protested against an on-field umpire call.

A high full toss was not given as a no-ball, which led to Pant calling back his batters, Rovman Powell and Kuldeep Yadav back to the dugout and the captain even sent coach Amre to the field to protest the decision.

Rishabh Pant and Pravin Amre were fined 100% of their match. Amre even received a one-match ban. Shardul Thakur also received a fine of 50% of his match fee.

  • MS Dhoni and Mustafizur Rahman

It was a rare occurrence as captain cool, MS Dhoni surprisingly lost his cool and was fined 75% of his match fee. In a match between India and Bangladesh in June 2015, MS Dhoni pushed debutant Mustafizur Rahman after the latter try to come in between Dhoni to complete a run. Rahman was seen doing something similar to Indian opener, Rohit Sharma. Mustafizur Rahman was also fined 50% of his match fee.

  • Murali Vijay

Indian opener, Murali Vijay received a fine even though he did not abuse/protest against umpires. Vijay received a fine due to a weird reason because of his logo on the bat. ICC regulations state that the manufactures logo should be placed within the top 9 inches of the shoulder of the bat.

  • Virat Kohli

Known for his aggressive behaviour, it comes as no surprise that Virat Kohli features on this list. The incident dates back to 2012, wherein in a match against Australia, Kohli received abuse from a group of fans in the stadium. Kohli lost his cool and gave the crowd a middle finger. The incident cost him 50% of his match fee.

  • Ishant Sharma

The tall Indian pacer once got involved in altercations with a couple of Sri Lankan batters. During a test match, Ishant Sharma swore at a Sri Lankan batter and even got into an argument with wicket-keeper Dinesh Chandimal. Sharma was given a one-match ban and fined 65% of his match fee.
