He failed to find a single game for himself all throughout the 2019 season, which witnessed Chennai Super Kings finish runners-up. Early Age:

Ruturaj Gaikwad, the standout opener for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), was born on January 31, 1997, in Pune, Maharashtra, India. His father, Dashrath Gaikwad, was a DRDO officer, and his mother worked in a municipality school. His elementary education was received at St. Joseph School. He went to the Lakashmibai Nadgude School in Pimple Nilakh, Pune. Gaikwad began his cricket career at the age of 13 when he joined the Dilip Vangsarkar Academy.

First Debut:

He made his first-class debut for Maharashtra in the 2016-17 season, his List-A debut in the same season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, and he has represented India A, India B, India Blue, and Under-23. In the 2018-19 season, he played for India B in the Deodhar Trophy and was nominated to the India U-23 squad for the Emerging Asia Cup.

Domestic Career:

He has played 28 outstanding matches and gained 1941 runs at an average of 42.19, including six centuries and nine fifties. In his List-A career, he has scored 4034 runs in 71 innings; he has a 61.12 average on the bat with 15 hundred and 16 fifties; he also has a double century.

Records:

He has some records under his name, some of which are difficult to break. One of the most memorable was when he smashed seven sixes in an over and scored 43 runs in an over during the second quarterfinals of the 2022 Vijay Hazare Trophy, and he became the first hitter to hit seven sixes in an over. Gaikwad also holds the record for the most centuries scored by any player in Vijay Hazare, with 12 centuries to his name. 

Vijay Hazare trophy 2022:

Ruturaj Gaikwas’s performance performance in Vijay Hazare was one of the most outstanding outcomes by any player, as he obtained 660 runs in the five matches he played for Maharashtra at an average of 220, including three centuries and one double century; as a consequence of his performance, Maharashtra reached their maiden final but was unable to win despite Ruturaj’s century.

U-19:

Gaikwad successfully represented India in the Under-19 Asia Cup in 2016. During the tournament, he grabbed the eye of selectors with a century against Sri Lanka, which led to his selection to the Maharashtra Ranji Trophy side.

IPL Auction:

Ruturaj Gaikwad had been selected by Chennai Super Kings in the 2019 auction for just 20 lakh rupees, although he did not play any matches that season and was kept for the next two seasons at the same price. He was retained by CSK for six crores prior to the significant auction in 20222, and he was their main opener partnering with Faf Du Plessis.

IPL Career:

Ruturaj Gaikwad failed to appear in any matches in the 2019 edition, but he was given the opportunity to play six games in the 2020 edition; when CSK was on the edge of being knocked out of the IPL, he impressed everyone with his performance, which allowed him to play the full edition of the IPL in 2021, where CSK won the IPL with his good performance as he scored 635 runs at an average of 45.35. He won another IPL title with CSK in 2023. In 2021, he won the Orange Cup and received the award for Emerging Player of the Year.

International Career:

He made his first appearance in international cricket in 2021, when he made his T20i debut against Sri Lanka and his ODI debut against South Africa, in which he scored 19 runs. He has played nine T20 matches and has scored 135 runs including a half-century.
