With just 10 matches remaining in La Liga, it will be a tough task for Real Madrid to even just challenge Barcelona for the title. Barcelona currently has a huge 13-point lead over Real Madrid. Here is a look at the La Liga title race.
Real Madrid
Unlike Barcelona, Real Madrid will be contesting for both the UEFA Champions League and the Copa Del Rey. Real Madrid’s primary priority at this point would be to defeat a lack lustered Chelsea in the Champions League in the Quarter Finals. Madrid will also face Osasuna in the Copa Del Rey finals on the 6th of May. Real Madrid won their 35th title last year. The Spanish capital club won the title with a 13-point margin over runner-up, Barcelona.
Barcelona
Due to their poor outings in both the Champions League and recently even in Copa Del Rey, Barcelona finds themselves only in the race for the La Liga title. With just 10 matches remaining, the Blaugrana would fancy their chances of winning yet another La Liga title. If Barcelona manages to win the La Liga title this year it would be their 28th title. While arch-rivals Real Madrid have 35 titles.
La Liga title race
There is a very slight possibility that Barcelona let the title slip from their hands. The only worrying clashes Barcelona faces in their quest for their 28th title would be against Athletico Marid and Real Sociedad. The 28th Matchday in retrospect was a chance for Real Madrid to reduce the gap between them and the table toppers. Madrid received a 3-2 thrashing at home by 5th placed team, Villarreal. Barcelona played the final game of Matchday 28 where they could only manage a goalless draw at home against 11th-placed Girona.
