Today’s gaming industry is totally different from the industry 10 years ago. It has transformed from a hobby to entertainment, from arcades to video games. Video games are playing the main role in entertaining people today. Also, video games have appeared in a highly competitive nature. One of the top competitive video games, esports is played on a professional level. 

Origin of eSports 

The first esports event was way back in late 1971. It is even held by the university of Stanford, where students with multiple disciplines participate and compete in the battle of vintage Spacewar game. But there was no prize money at that time. This event announced the prize of a free one-year subscription to the popular rolling stone magazine. This event is not regarded as an official esports event. It was only beginning in the gaming world. 

After some years, other competitive gaming events are held that are run by twin galaxies. It keeps the record of the top score in the whole world. Games worldwide beat each other and hold the title of top 5 scores at twin galaxies. 

People are seen as crazy about gaming. And with time, it has become television broadcasting or streaming. Small events are held by live shows where the people can play against each other to get high scores. Winners are rewarded with gift hampers and prize money. 

Growth of eSports in the World

In 1980, esports started to be dominated by Nintendo as they took the graphics, control, and accessibility of gaming to a new level. The first entertainment system of Nintendo made highlights in North America in 1980. Nintendo is one of the first companies that intended on esports potential and launched the world championship in 1990. 

With this, game developers and designers successfully make video games more accessible to everyone. It is much better than gaming in previous decades. 

The next world championship by Nintendo was held in 1994. This event was a huge success, with many spectators attending the grand finale held in California. These events made the road map to esports events as competitive video games available today. With the rise of PC gaming and the internet, esports are finally elevated to new heights.
