Men’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025 has entered the high-octane Super 4 stage after the exciting preliminary round concluded with host nation India demolishing debutants Kazakhstan 15-0 at the Bihar Sports University Hockey Stadium in Rajgir.
This year’s tournament, which also serves as a qualifier for the Hockey World Cup 2026 in Belgium and the Netherlands, began on August 29 with eight teams. Now, after five days of intense action, only four remain in the hunt for continental glory.
Men’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025: Teams Who Qualified For Super4s
India (Pool A Winners- 9 Points)
The three-time Asia Cup champions were unbeatable in the group stage. Led by skipper Harmanpreet Singh, India edged past title rivals China (4-3) and Japan (3-2), before unleashing their full attacking might against Kazakhstan with a 15-goal rout. With clinical penalty corners and fast transitions, India look like the team to beat.
Malaysia (Pool B Winners- 9 Points)
This is the seventh time that Malaysia made it to the Super4s. They were undefeated in the group stage. Their most memorable win from the premiminary round would be a 4-1 victory over defending champions South Korea. Having finished as runners-up in the last two editions, the Malaysians are chasing their maiden Asia Cup title.

China (Pool A Runners-up- 4 Points)
China held their nerve in a tightly contested Pool A, edging out Japan on goal difference. A hard-fought 2-2 draw with Japan and a massive 13-1 win over Kazakhstan proved just enough to seal their place in the Super4s. Although they fell narrowly to India, China’s balance between defense and counter-attacks could spring surprises in the next stage.
South Korea (Pool B Runners-up- 6 Points)
The most successful team in Asia Cup history with five titles, South Korea had to dig deep this time. After a bruising 1-4 loss to Malaysia, the Koreans bounced back with wins over Chinese Taipei and Bangladesh. Their 5-1 win in the decider against Bangladesh showcased their trademark discipline and fitness, but they’ll need more bite in attack to reclaim their crown.
