Notably, in 2016, the league introduced a unique scoring rule where field goals counted as two and penalty corners counted as one, which significantly impacted the season tallies for forwards compared to earlier years.

Glenn Turner (2016 – 16 Goals)

Jugraj Singh (2024–25 – 12 Goals)

Hockey India League returned after a long hiatus of seven years with the 2024-25 season in which Jugraj Singh emerged as the top scorer. He scored a total of 12 goals which were instrumental in landing the Rarh Bengal Tigers to their first-ever title.

Ashley Jackson (2015 – 12 Goals)

Before the “double-points” rule, Jackson set the benchmark for consistency. The England international scored 12 goals in 2015 which also earned him the Player of the Tournament award. Not only that, his prolific goals helped the Ranchi Rays lift the trophy.

Gonzalo Peillat (2017 – 12 Goals)

Sandeep Singh (2013 – 11 Goals)

In the inaugural season of the HIL, Sandeep Singh , who represented the Delhi Waveriders, showcased why he was called “Flicker Singh,”. He finished as the top scorer with 11 goals proving his dominance as a drag-flicker on the global stage.
