When most people think of esports, they imagine PC games like League of Legends or Counter-Strike. However, in Asia, mobile esports has become a giant on its own. This was proven once again when the Honor of Kings King Pro League (KPL) Championship Grand Finals filled one of the largest stadiums in China with tens of thousands of fans.
Honor of Kings is currently the most-played mobile MOBA in the world, with over 100 million daily players, mainly in China. On November 8, the KPL Grand Finals took place at the Beijing National Stadium, a venue that can seat around 80,000 people and famously hosted the Olympics.
Honor Of Kings KPL Finals Break World Record With Massive Live Crowd
A Record-Breaking Crowd
The finals saw All Gamers (AG Super Play) face off against Chongqing Wolves. After a competitive series, All Gamers came out on top with a 4-2 victory. The team won the largest share of the nearly $10 million prize pool, making this one of the highest-paying esports events globally.
However, even the intense gameplay was not the biggest story.
The KPL Grand Finals broke the Guinness World Record for the highest live attendance at an esports event. A confirmed 62,196 people were in the stadium watching the match live. This attendance number is so massive that only two Premier League football clubs Manchester United and West Ham United regularly have larger crowds at their home games.
Tickets Sold Out in Seconds

Tickets for the event sold out within 12 seconds. More than 60,000 seats were filled almost instantly, and it’s believed that even more could have been sold if the stage and production setup did not take up so much space. This shows just how strong mobile esports culture is in China.
Previous Records
Before this event, the record for highest esports attendance was:
- 45,000 spectators for the PES 2016 UEFA EURO tournament in Paris (2016)
- 40,000 spectators for the League of Legends World Championship in Seoul (2014)
The new KPL record surpasses both by a clear margin.
