Starting a Valorant match with a missing teammate can ruin the whole game. Playing a full match as a 4v5 is frustrating and unfair, especially in ranked mode. To solve this problem, Riot added the remake feature. This system lets teams cancel a match early if someone is AFK or disconnected from the start.
This guide explains what a remake is, when you should use it, how to call it, and what happens if it passes or fails.
What is a remake in Valorant?
A remake is an option that allows a team to cancel a match in the early rounds if a player is missing from the start. Instead of playing an unfair match, the game ends with no result.
Important things to know:
- The match is cancelled and treated like it never happened
- You do not lose or gain RR, XP, or MMR
- The AFK or disconnected player gets a penalty
- The match does not show as a win or loss in your history
This feature is mainly used in ranked matches to protect players from unfair losses.
When should you use the remake option?
Timing matters a lot. If you miss the window, you lose the chance.
You can use remake only if:
- A teammate is AFK or disconnected from the very start
- You call the remake during the buy phase of Round 2
- The missing player did not move or play in Round 1
- Your team is not a full five-player premade
- All active players vote yes
If Round 2 already starts, the remake option is gone. Always act fast.
How to remake in Valorant
Follow these steps carefully:
- Notice the problem early
If a teammate is not moving or disconnected from Round 1, get ready. - Wait for Round 2 buy phase
After Round 1 ends, do not waste time. - Open the chat
Press Enter to open team chat. - Type the command
Type /remake and press Enter. - Vote yes
All remaining players must vote yes by pressing F5 or typing /yes. - Result
- If everyone agrees, the match ends instantly
- If even one player votes no or does not vote, the remake fails
That is the only way to call a remake.
What happens if the remake is successful?
If the vote passes:
- No RR, XP, or MMR loss for active players
- No rewards either since the match is cancelled
- The AFK player gets leave penalties
- The match does not count in your stats
- You can queue again immediately
It is the safest way to avoid an unfair ranked loss.
What if the remake vote fails?
If the remake does not pass:
- The match continues as a 4v5
- You cannot call remake again in the same match
- You risk losing RR and MMR if you lose
- There are no replacements or second chances
This is why clear communication with your team is important before voting.
