After winning the series by defeating England in the fifth and decisive T20I match, Indian captain Virat Kohli has said that he will bat as an opener in the upcoming IPL as well. Kohli opened the innings with Rohit Sharma in the fifth and decisive T20l match played at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday and added a 94-run partnership for the first wicket.
Kohli scored an unbeaten 80 runs. Kohli received the Man of the Series award. India beat England by 36 runs to win the five-match T20I series by 3–2. Thanks to the bowlers’ best performance after their batsmen. Batting first, India scored a mammoth 224 for two and then restricted England to 188 for eight in their allotted 20 overs.
Kohli said after the match, ‘There was a classic performance by Rohit Sharma. And then Suryakumar batted well coming in at number three. Then Hardik finishes it. I am going to open in IPL also. I have batted at different numbers before, but I think we have a strong middle order right now.’
