ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Top 5 Batsmen to Watch Out For

ICC Champions Trophy: All eyes will be on these five batsmen, will Gill prove to be the trump card for India?

The Indian team is ready for the ICC Champions Trophy. Eight teams will participate in this tournament and will challenge for the title. India missed out on winning the tournament last time, but this time the team will put in all its effort. Every time in a big tournament, there are some players who impress with their performance, while some batsmen are always in focus. This time too, something similar will happen and the fans as well as their team will have expectations from the selected batsmen of the world.

There are not many new players in the eight teams participating in the ICC Champions Trophy and it is very unlikely that any new face will emerge among the players who can change the course of the match at least in batting. This list includes the name of vice-captain Shubman Gill for India, who was in great form in the three-match ODI series against England. India has high expectations from him.

Shubman Gill has performed brilliantly in 50 ODIs

Shubman Gill has performed brilliantly in 50 ODIs, scoring seven centuries and 15 half-centuries for India in the important ODI format at an impressive average of 60 and a strike rate of over 101. This is a format in which he can be the player to take over the responsibility from Virat Kohli. Two legends like Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma are still guiding Gill and this tournament can transform Gill from a superstar to a megastar. Gill is one of the highest run-scorers in ODIs since 2022. He has scored 2538 runs in 47 matches at an average of 63.45 and a strike rate of 102.87.

Head’s bat works wonders in ICC tournaments

ICC Champions Trophy: Travis Head

For the last few years, Australia’s Travis Head has been performing brilliantly for the team. His bat works wonders in ICC tournaments. He has troubled India a lot in knockout matches for some time now and on Pakistan’s batting-friendly pitches, Head is once again ready to destroy the bowling attack. Indian fans still remember the pain of the ODI World Cup final and Head has the ability to hurt the opposition teams.

Pakistan’s hopes from Salman

ICC Champions Trophy: Salman Agha

Pakistan’s Salman Agha‘s average of over 45 is not extraordinary but those who have seen him bat recently will attest that the 31-year-old batsman from Lahore is finally making his mark. If the triangular series is considered a trailer, then there are more big innings to come from his bat. He is a clean hitter and has plenty of time to play the fast bowlers. The way he controlled things while chasing a target of over 350 against South Africa was extraordinary.

Conway can make New Zealand’s job easy

Devon Conway Test Records

New Zealand’s Devon Conway has a short ODI career in which he has played only 33 matches but in such a short time he has shown that he can turn the match in his favor with his ability to find the gap at will. He is a great batsman against spinners and whether it is Pakistan or Dubai, T20 league cricket or tours of Asia to play international matches have given him good knowledge of the conditions here. If Conway gets going, New Zealand’s job will become easy.

Klaasen’s bat works well on the subcontinent

Heinrich Klaasen

Whether its T20 or ODI, when one talks about a player who can change the course of the match, it is very difficult to forget South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen who can hit the ball across the boundary without any trouble. He played one match in the triangular series but scored 87 runs in 56 balls and scored runs with ease against the top level Pakistani attack. He has scored runs in 58 matches at an average of over 44 and a strike rate of 117.44. He is another player who knows how to attack the subcontinental pitches. Klaasen’s battle against Adil Rashid and Adam Zampa will be worth watching.
