ICC men’s ODI World Cup will feature 14 teams from 2027 after it decided to expand the tournament on Thursday. Similarly, it also made amends in the total no. of teams for the T20 World Cup as well where it would feature 20 teams for the tournament.
The Board also decided to retain the format for the World Test Championship in the next cycle with nine teams playing six series each to compete in the final every two years.
BCCI gets a deadline till June 28 from ICC
ICC has given the BCCI till June 28 to decide on the T20 World Cup. The board met on May 29 and asked for time from the ICC which got the green flag. Earlier the 14th season of IPL (IPL 2021) was postponed due to the pandemic after 29 matches, which will take place in the UAE in September. The BCCI has already officially stated that the UAE is another option for the World Cup. I would look forward to everything to conduct the tournament.
