In the most recent ICC Rankings update published on May 5, 2025, India has continued to reign supreme in white-ball cricket by retaining the No. 1 ranking in both the ODI and T20I formats. But in a major drop, Rohit Sharma’s Team India have dropped to the fourth place in the Test ICC Rankings, one place behind England.
The ICC rankings annually consider May 2024 matches at full weight (100%) and give 50% weightage to matches that were played in the period from May 2022 to May 2024.
India’s White-Ball Dominance
ODIs: India, who are the current ICC Champions Trophy 2025 champions, had their rating go up from 122 to 124 points, keeping them at No. 1 in the current ICC ODI Rankings.
T20Is: India still leads the T20I ICC Rankings, but Australia has narrowed the gap, remaining nine rating points behind.
Australia Sustain Test Dominance, England Move to Second

Australia solidified its grip on the No. 1 Test team honours with an impressive 126 rating points. Though they have missed out on the World Test Championship 2025 final, England have gone to the second position with 113 points with the help of victories in three out of the four Test series recently. In the process, they overtook both India and South Africa.

There were no changes in the rest of the top 10, which consists of Sri Lanka, Pakistan, the West Indies, Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe.
ODI Rankings Shake-Up: New Zealand and Sri Lanka Make Gains
New Zealand, the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 runner-up, has risen to the second spot in the latest ICC ODI Rankings ahead of Australia.
Sri Lanka moved to fourth position after earning five rating points ahead of Pakistan and South Africa.
Pakistan gained a single rating point after an early Champions Trophy defeat.
South Africa fell to sixth place after losing four rating points.
T20I Rankings: Sri Lanka Overtakes Pakistan, Afghanistan Increases
At the shortest form of the game, India and Australia top the charts. But quite a few notable changes were observed:
- Sri Lanka overtook Pakistan in the ICC T20I Rankings, standing seven points clear now.
- Afghanistan jumped to eighth place by pushing England aside, increasing their points by four.
- West Indies picked up five points and are now in ninth, ahead of Bangladesh, who lost four points.
