India’s rising star Yashasvi Jaiswal has made a major leap in the latest ICC Test Ranking, entering the top five Test batters for the first time. His outstanding performance in the recently concluded England Test series, where he scored a brilliant 118 at The Oval, pushed his series tally to 411 runs at an average of 41.10.
This performance propelled Jaiswal three spots up in the Test Ranking, now holding at No. 5, just behind world greats Joe Root, Harry Brook, Kane Williamson, and Steven Smith.
Indian bowlers Siraj and Prasidh hit career-best Test Rankings
The current Test Ranking also provided career-high rankings for Indian quick bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna:
Siraj moved 12 spots to the 15th rank with a career-best 674 rating points.
After another successful Test match in South Africa, Prasidh jumped 25 rankings to 59th and achieved a career-best 368 points. These increases by the two pacers demonstrate their overall impact during the last Test match and indicate that the pacers are starting to cement themselves within India’s plans for the red-ball format.
Gus Atkinson Moves to Top 10 in Test Ranking for Bowlers
England paceman Gus Atkinson moved into the ICC Test Ranking by breaking into the top 10 Test bowlers for the first time in his career. Following a good showing in the fifth Test at The Oval, where he shared eight wickets with partner Josh Tongue, Atkinson is now joint 10th with Australia’s Mitchell Starc.
Meanwhile, Josh Tongue also moved up 14 places to reach the 46th position in the list of Test bowlers.
Matt Henry jumps to 4th, Daryl Mitchell reaches the top 10 Batters
From New Zealand’s ongoing Test series against Zimbabwe, exceptional performances have caused ranking surges:
Matt Henry had risen three places to reach the 4th position of the Test bowlers after posting a match-winning performance. He took 6 for 39 and 3 for 51.
Daryl Mitchell moved forward four positions to 9th in the Test batters’ list, solidifying his position among the best after productive contributions with the bat.
Test Ranking Shake-Up Reflects Global Talent Surge
The recent ICC Test Ranking update mirrors the major trend in international Test cricket, with new talent threatening the incumbency of veteran players.
