It proved to be an outstanding decision when Indian skipper Nikki Prasad elected to bowl first in the game against Bangladesh. She was able to keep her Indian bowling attack on top from the start, limiting the Bangladeshi team to just 64 runs for the loss of 8 wickets within their 20 overs. Bangladesh could not cross the 100 mark in the run chase.

The stand out with the ball was Vaishnavi Sharma, who was scintillating, claiming 3 vital wickets. Shabnam Shakeel, Joshitha, and G Trisha also contributed to the bowling by taking 1 wicket each. Sumaya Akter, Bangladesh’s captain, was the top scorer for her team, unbeaten on 21 runs. Except for Jannatul Mauya, no other batter from Bangladesh could reach double figures, which meant India’s bowlers were quite dominant.

In a chase to win, it needed only 65 runs; India made this task look relatively easy. With 7.1 overs used up, completing the chase in just 37 balls, and still having 8 wickets, India reached their target. A good start had been given to India by its opening pair of G Trisha and G Kamalani. The all-around performer Trisha continued her splendid show with the bat as well as she scored some aggressive 40 runs off only 31 deliveries by scoring 8 fours.

The only two wickets to fall during the chase were those of Trisha and G Kamalani. Kamalani was dismissed for a modest 1 run, while Trisha’s innings came to an end with the score of 23. Captain Sanika Chalke remained unbeaten on 11, while Captain Nikki Prasad also contributed with an unbeaten 5. The pair managed to steer India back home comfortably, reaching the target with loads of ease.

Bangladesh were pretty much disappointed with the bat. Being put to bat, they never got into the groove and were under constant pressure from the Indian bowlers. Bangladesh could manage to get only two batsmen in double figures and their total of 64 was always going to be difficult to defend against a powerful Indian side.

– Vaishnavi Sharma (India): 3 wickets for just 10 runs, in which she was a key player to break the Bangladeshi batting lineup.

– G Trisha (India): Brilliantly scoring 40 off 31, in which she helped India reach the target very easily.
– Sumaya Akter (Bangladesh): The highest scorer for Bangladesh was Sumaya Akter with 21* runs, but unfortunately, her match-winning effort wasn’t enough for her team to win.
