Mullanpur, Thiruvananthapuram, and Raipur Set to Host ICC Women’s World Cup 2025
The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 will be hosted in India, with the tournament taking place across five venues: Vishakhapatnam, Thiruvananthapuram, Raipur, Indore, and Mullanpur, which will host the final of this major event in women’s cricket.
Mullanpur, Thiruvananthapuram, and Raipur have never hosted a Women’s ODI, while Nehru Stadium in Indore has hosted two, including one during the 1997 World Cup. However, the upcoming event will be played at the Holkar Stadium. The ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vishakhapatnam has hosted six women’s T20Is and five women’s ODIs.
Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and host India have already qualified for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. The last two spots will be decided through the Women’s World Cup Qualifiers, which will take place in Lahore starting April 9.
If Pakistan qualifies for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, the tournament will be played in a hybrid model. In this case, some parts of the event are expected to be hosted by the UAE and Sri Lanka. This is due to an agreement between the BCCI and PCB, which means they won’t travel to each other’s countries until 2027.
India’s Previous ICC Women’s World Cup Performances and 2025 Hopes
The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 will be the first time India hosts the event since 2013. Overall, it will be the fourth time the tournament is held in India. In the previous edition, the Indian women’s team was eliminated in the group stage and will be eager to make a strong comeback this time.
The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 will feature 31 games, following the same format as 2022. With India hosting the tournament, Harmanpreet Kaur‘s team is the favorite to win.
India was the runner-up in 2017 and missed the semi-finals in 2022. With many young players in the squad, the team faces a tough challenge. Harmanpreet, facing criticism for her leadership, will be determined to lead her team to victory.
