Hockey Canada released a roster of 15 confirmed players: one goaltender, five defenders, and nine forwards. They are a mix of young talents and experienced players.

The highlight of the Canadian squad is the return of ice hockey legend Sidney Crosby. It marks the third time Crosby will compete at the world championship, and his first since captaining Canada to gold ten years ago in 2015.

Also known as “Captain Canada”, earlier this year, he led Canada to victory at the inaugural 4 Nations Face-Off, topping the squad in assists and points. With this latest call-up, Crosby confirms his ninth appearance on Canadian national duty across multiple formats.

This is the final world championship before next year’s Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 .

Team Canada has made 77 appearances at the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship since 1920. From 1920 to 1968, the Olympic tournament served as the world championship tournament. The world championship became an annual event starting in 1930. Canada has  won the gold medal 28 times, 16 silver , and nine bronze. The 53 total medals are the most by any country.
