IML Results Update So Far: West Indies Stuns England, What’s Next?

The inaugural edition of the International Masters League (IML) has brought together cricketing legends from all over the world. The tournament began on 22 February and will conclude on 16 March 2025. This 18-match event features iconic players from six countries, like Sachin Tendulkar of India, Shane Watson of Australia, Brian Lara of the West Indies, and Eoin Morgan of England. 

The league has already given us exciting moments with India Masters securing a dramatic last-over win against Sri Lanka in the opening match and West Indies Masters leading the points table after yesterday’s win over England. With many more matches to come, here is a short recap of every match.

Current Standings of the IML: Results So Far

In the opening match of the IML that took place on 22 February 2025 at DY Patil Stadium, India scored a total of 222 runs with 4 wickets. Sri Lanka also responded with a thrilling inning however, they fell four runs short of tying the match. India won by four runs, and Stuart Binny of India was named the Player of the Match. 

Following the opening match, Australian Masters faced West Indies, where they defeated the opponent by several wickets in a spectacularly high-score encounter. Australia scored a total of 216 runs, and West Indies chased the score and managed to pull off 220 runs in 19.2 overs. This match also took place in Mumbai, and Ashley Nurse of the winning team was named the Player of the Match.

In India’s second match, the team went head to head with England Masters but maintained their winning streak by winning the match with 9 wickets. England struggled to make runs in the beginning, and in response to that, India was able to chase that minimal score in just 11.4 overs. This victory claimed the top position at the points table for India. 

In the fourth match of the IML, South Africa and Sri Lanka battled for their first win in the tournament, where Sri Lanka successfully chased the score of 180 runs and won the match. Asela Gunaratne was named Player of the Match.

England Masters had a chance at redemption as they faced West Indies for their second game in the tournament. However, they could not manage to pull off a win as the opponent team thrived under the captaincy of Brian Lara. This win led the West Indies Masters to the second position at the table, strengthening their chances of qualifying for the playoffs. It was also the last match at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai as the tournament shifts to Vadodara for the next six matches.
