Wasim Jaffer, a former Indian batsman, believes India should give Ishan Kishan another shot in the third T20I against the West Indies. In the three-match T20I series, Jharkhand’s wicketkeeper-batter struggled to score runs once again. Ishan could only score two runs from ten balls at Eden Gardens on Friday after his 42-ball 35 in the previous match. Kyle Mayers pouched a catch at the backward point after Ishan found a thick leading edge while attempting to play a Sheldon Cottrell length delivery.
Despite his terrible batsmanship, Jaffer wants India to keep Ishan Kishan on the field for one more game rather than replace him with Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has been warming the bench for a long time. Ruturaj, according to Jaffer, might be used in the Sri Lanka T20I series and given an extended run in the game.
“We need to play Ishan Kishan in the third T20I and give him another game.” Then, in the Sri Lanka series, we might consider giving Ruturaj (Gaikwad) an opportunity. He needs a longer rope, maybe a series. It’s pointless to give Ruturaj just one game. It makes sense to maintain consistency with players so that they know when they will be playing the full series” Jaffer told ESPNCricinfo.
