IND vs AFG, the 1st ODI match of the series, was held at Dharamshala. As the match was scheduled for 1:30 PM IST, and the toss was at 1:00 PM IST, but due to rain, the match was delayed for about four hours, and there were 2 inspections before the match started to check whether the match could be played or not. Later, the match was decided to be played, but the overs in each innings were reduced to 25 overs per innings.

IND vs AFG: Toss Update  

When the rain stopped around 5:00 PM IST, the toss took place at 5:15 PM IST between both the captains, Shubman Gill and Hashmatullah Shahidi, and Gill won the toss and elected to field first, as the dew can play a significant factor in the second innings. 

Two debutants, Gurnoor Brar and Harsh Dubey, were included, as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Kuldeep Yadav were not included in the 1st ODI match. The Afghanistan captain also wanted to bowl first, but fortune didn’t fall in his favour, but it will be a thrilling contest.

IND vs AFG: First Innings, Rahmunallah Gurbaz Blistering 102 Runs Innings 

In IND vs AFG, the match’s first ball was bowled at 5:45 PM IST, and both the openers, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran, came to the crease, and Arshdeep Singh bowled the match’s first ball. With 11 runs from the 1st over, it was a good start for Afghanistan. The first breakthrough for India came on the 2nd over’s 5th ball, where the debutant Gurnoor Brar took his first international wicket, dismissing Ibrahim Zadran, who scored 1(4). 

The 2nd breakthrough came in the 3rd over, where Arshdeep took the wicket of Sediqullah at 0(2), and things were getting tough for Afghanistan as they lost their 3rd batter, Rahmat Shah, who scored 3(8). 

Within 5 overs, Afghanistan lost their upper order, and now Hashmatullah Shahidi and Rahmanullah Gurbaz took the responsibility to move the scoreboard, taking singles, doubles, and hitting boundaries only on loose deliveries.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz took the hitting approach, and he was attacking the bowlers. Within 10 overs, Gurbaz completed his fifty, scoring 54 runs in 25 balls with 4 sixes and 6 fours. Later, on the 16th over’s 3rd ball, Nitish Kumar dismissed Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who scored a brilliant 102(51), with a perfect strike rate of 200, including 8 sixes and 8 fours. 

Later, things got tough for Afghanistan as, after Gurbaz’s wicket, the batting line-up fell. In 24.5 overs, the team was all out for 194, and India’s target to win the match was 195.

 IND vs AFG: 2nd Innings, Shubhman Gill Played a Crucial Knock

The second innings of IND vs AFG began with two destructive batters, Shubman Gill, the captain, and Rohit Sharma. In the very first over, Rohit Sharma got hit on his wrist. As the ball was coming with a lot of swing due to the wind and bounce, batting was becoming tough. In the 6th over, Rohit Sharma got run out as there was a minor miscommunication between Gill and Rohit. 

India lost an important wicket, and Afghanistan got their first breakthrough. Rashid Khan took the 2nd breakthrough for his team by dismissing Ishan Kishan, who scored 34(22), a valuable contribution by Ishan. Shreyas Iyer came to the crease. India chased the total very easily in just 22.5 overs. India won by a huge margin of 7 wickets.
