The Indian cricket team contingent led by the skipper, Rohit Sharma, defeated Australia by six wickets in the 2nd T20I on the ground of Nagpur and levelled the series 1-1. The match was rain-curtailed and was reduced to eight overs due to the delay caused by a wet outfield.
The Aussies scored a formidable 90 in eight overs for the loss of 5 wickets, while the men in blue chased the target score rather comfortably in the second ball of the eighth over as Dinesh Karthik finished off the game in style by knocking for a six and a boundary confronting Australia’s Daniel Sam’s bowling.
Rohit Sharma’s incredible innings of 46 off 20 deliveries played a pivotal role in India’s victory in the 2nd T20I against Australia in Nagpur on 23rd September 2022. The run-machine of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli, failed to perform yet again. Kohli could score only 11 off 6 deliveries.
The opening batsman of the Indian cricket team, KL Rahul, who’s been under the spotlight for his average run-rate, also couldn’t contribute much to the victory as he got knocked out for 10 off 6 deliveries.
While Bhuvaneshwar Kumar missed out from the list of India’s playing XI, after being under scan by the management for leaking runs in the death over, the storming comeback of the Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah in the 2nd T20I against Australia in Nagpur proved to be an ideal decision by the management. Bumrah was not a part of India’s playing XI during the Asia Cup due to a back injury the star bowler suffered in July.
The pace spearhead bowled two overs out of eight-overs in the match and picked off one of the most crucial wickets of the Australian skipper, Aaron Finch, who could have been a potential threat to India’s victory in the 2nd T20I against Australia. Bumrah’s pin-point low full toss left Finch applauding him.
Bumrah’s stunning yorker delivery gave a tough time on-field to Australia’s iconic batter, Steve Smith. The unplayable yorker from Bumrah left the star batter on-ground. The Yorker King has definitely re-assured his position in India’s playing XI.
The 3rd T20I of the three-match series will be played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on 25 September 2022. Both the teams are gearing up to lock horns against each other, levelled at 1-1, the third match will be the fate-deciding game for both the teams.
