The first T20I match of the 5-match series between India and England won by England by 8 wickets. The visitors maintained their dominance in the match from the start. England won the toss and choose to field, which later helped them to defeat the hosts in the first match.

Indian batsmen were unable to score runs against the English fast bowler. Jofra Archer strikes for his team and picked 3 wickets. However, Shreyas Iyer scored 67 runs even though, the Indian team put a very low total of 124-runs on the board. Skipper Virat Kohli again failed to deliver and got dismissed for a duck.

While chasing, England lost just two wickets and managed to achieve the target in just 15.3 overs. Opener Jason Roy missed his half-century just by 1 run when Washington Sundar sent him back in his very first ball of the over. The opening pair added 72 runs to the team’s total and helped to thrash the Indian side.

Roy played the knock of 49 runs in just 32 balls with the help of 4 boundaries and 3 sixes. Buttler scored 28 runs and lost his wicket to spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Jonny Bairstow, who was struggling to find his form the whole time in the Test series played the quick knock of 26 runs including two big hits and remains not out along with David Malan. David Malan finished the match with a six and played an inning of 24 runs.

After this victory, now England has a lead of 1-0 in the T20I series against India.
