IND vs ENG T20 World Cup Semifinal: England Won the Toss and have Opted to Bowl First

5 Min Read

Both teams are facing each other in the third consecutive semifinal of the T20 World Cup

India will take on England in the second semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2026. Both sides will look to give their all in order to book a place in thefinal of the tournament to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 8.

The Form

Both teams have played some good quality cricket leading into the semifinal, which is evident by the fact that they lost only one of the seven games that they played in the first two rounds of the competition, and will look to carry the same form in the knockout clash.

The Approach

If we talk about India and England individually, the Men in Blue have shown some good game sense in the competition, having come out of difficult situations by changing their approach according to the nature of the surfaces that they have played on and have also made necessary changes both in the batting order and the team, depending on the opposition.

England, on the other hand, has found a way to be on the right side of the result despite not playing their best cricket and will have to be on top of their game to get the better of the home team.

Players To Watch Out For

India would back its openers to get the team off to a good start and contribute individually as well. Out of the two openers, Sanju would aim to carry the good form that hewas in in the do-or-die game against West Indies, while his partner Abhishek would also want to make an impactful contribution, having failed to do so so far in the tournament.

In the bowling department, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side would rely on Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakaravarthy to provide breakthroughs

The Opposition

Like India, England would also look up to the opening pair of Jos Buttler and Phillip Salt to make good use of the first six overs and captain Harry Brook to play a counterattacking knock while batting at number three.

The bowling department of the team will be handled by Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid, both of whom will be entrusted to pick wickets at regular intervals and would also hope for good support from other bowlers as well.

Suryakumar Yadav, the captain of India, said they have no problem in batting first and would have batted first anyway. Surya was of the opinion that dew won’t play a huge part with the wind blowing around.
