India and New Zealand will play the final of the tenth edition of the T20 World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The History
The venue hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for the home side when it comes to ICC tournaments, having lost two of the four matches that it has played at the Narendra Modi Stadium since the 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup.
The Kiwis
As far as New Zealand is concerned, they also don’t possess a very good record at this stadium, having not won a single game of T20I cricket in the two outings that they have had.
The Chance
Both teams now have a chance of making up for the poor record by clinching the upcoming match, and with that, the title of the 2026 T20 World Cup. But for that to happen, both India and New Zealand will have to put their best foot forward to come out on theright side of the result.
The Silver Lining
Amidst the not-so-perfect record, India should remember that they have a superior record when it comes to matches played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in theT20I format of the game. The defending T20 World Cup champions have featured in ten matches at this venue and have registered a win in seven of those.
The Form
To add to the above mentioned record, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side can take out the positives from the way they have managed to come out of crunch situations in the ongoing tournament and give what it takes to get over the line.

The Opponent
Blackcaps, on the other hand, will look to take the momentum that they have on their side after a thumping win in the last match against South Africa in the first semifinal at the Eden Gardens and do more of the same in the tournament decider.
The Conditions
It will be interesting to see how the pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium behaves, as it will play a major role in deciding the fate of both teams in the match. If the surface turns out be the same as it was during the 2023 ODI World Cup final, i.e., sluggish, then both teams will have an equal chance of winning. But if the pitch is good for batting, then India will be the favourites to defend their title.
The Soil
The nature of thewicket will depend on the soil used to prepare it. If the wicket contains black soil, it will have low bounce, and the odd ball might spin a bit, whereas if the pitch is made up of red soil, the batters will be able to trust the bounce, and the same can also be used by the bowlers to their advantage.
