BCCI has revealed a very strong India’s squad consisting of 15 players for their upcoming IND vs NZ ODI series. The return of key players such as Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and Mohammed Siraj adds to India’s boost before their T20 World Cup next year. The series against New Zealand begins on 11th January.
Shubman Gill Appointed As Team Captain
Shubman Gill has been reinstated as India’s ODI captain after the Series against South Africa due to a neck spasm. Shreyas Iyer, pending fitness clearance, has been named as the vice-captain. Gill has already pushed himself back into action in the T20Is, and Iyer is working on a comeback after he recovered from the spleen injury sustained when they toured Australia.
Mohammed Siraj Back, Hardik Pandya Rested
Mohammed Siraj returns to the ODI squad after his last appearance in October 2025 in Australia. Siraj is actively involved in domestic cricket, participating in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy. Hardik Pandya is being left out due to workload management, and according to the BCCI, he has still not been cleared to bowl 10 overs.

Fitness Updates Ahead of IND vs NZ
Gill, who had suffered from food-poisoning, is likely to play a Vijay Hazare Trophy game on January 6. Shreyas Iyer came out all guns blazing in a practice game at the BCCI Centre of Excellence and is all set to don the Mumbai jersey once again in domestic cricket ahead of his entry in the national team.
