IND vs SL White Ball Series 2025: Sri Lanka Requested BCCI for Tour After Bangladesh Series Got Cancelled
Sri Lanka Proposes 6-Match White Ball Series to BCCI
Sri Lanka has offered to host three ODIs and three T20Is in August 2025. These are the same number of white ball matches India was originally scheduled to play against Bangladesh. As of now, the BCCI has not confirmed the proposal.
A BCCI official said the decision will depend on the status of the Asia Cup 2025. Since both events are close in schedule, planning needs to be balanced.
BCCI to Discuss with Players and Coaches During Lord’s Test

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia is currently in London for the Lord’s Test. He is expected to meet head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar to discuss the proposal with key players. The board wants inputs from the team before responding to Sri Lanka Cricket.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli Likely to Return in ODI Format
If the IND vs SL white ball series goes ahead, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli could return to the ODI squad. They have already retired from T20Is and Test matches. Their experience is still crucial in 50-over cricket.
India was scheduled to tour Bangladesh for a similar white ball series from August 17 to 31, which has now been shifted to 2026 due to scheduling issues.
Asia Cup 2025 Decision Expected in Next Few Days

India is the official host of the Asia Cup 2025. The tournament is tentatively scheduled from September 10 to 28, but final approval from the Government of India is still pending. Pakistan is also part of the event, so political clearances are necessary. A final decision may come within 2–3 days.
Can IND vs SL White Ball Series and Asia Cup Coexist?
There is a possibility that both events can take place with proper planning. BCCI will have to manage player workload and logistics to balance both tournaments. All decisions will be based on player fitness and government approvals.
