IND vs WI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will reveal India’s squad for the upcoming two-match IND vs WI Test series against the West Indies on September 23 or 24. The selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, is unlikely to rest on its laurels and spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, even though the lineup is expected to favor spin-friendly home conditions.

India, led by Shubman Gill, will take on Roston Chase’s West Indies team in this two-match series. The series is part of the ICC World Test Championship cycle, and both teams will be keen to earn crucial points. The first Test will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad before the action moves to Delhi.

IND vs WI: India Looks to Boost WTC Points in First Home Series

India recently drew their Test series 2-2 in England and now have a chance to strengthen their World Test Championship points tally in this home series against the West Indies.

The Shubman Gill-led team will aim to improve their chances of reaching the WTC final. India will play only two away Tests in the SENA countries, against New Zealand. This will also be the first home series for India following the retirements of cricketing stalwarts Ravichandran Ashwin, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma.

With spin-friendly pitches expected, India is likely to adopt a spin-heavy strategy while ensuring a strong top order and versatile all-rounders to maximize their chances of victory. The team will also be looking to bounce back after losing its last home series against New Zealand.

IND vs WI: Jasprit Bumrah Expected to Feature

According to Cricbuzz, India is likely to field Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna as their pace trio for the series. Bumrah’s participation will depend on his workload from the Asia Cup, but he is currently expected to play both matches.

“The three pacers will be Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna. Bumrah’s participation will be dependent on how the Asia Cup pans ou,t but at this stage, he is expected to play both the Tests against West Indies,” the report read.

Bumrah played only three of the five Tests in England. After the West Indies series, India will tour Australia for a white-ball series in October-November, followed by an all-format home series against South Africa. The team faces a busy schedule ahead of the T20 World Cup.

IND vs WI: Rishabh Pant Ruled Out, Dhruv Jurel Likely to Keep

Shubman Gill will captain India for the IND vs WI home series. Key players like KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav are included in the squad. Rishabh Pant is doubtful due to a toe injury sustained in England, and Dhruv Jurel is likely to take over wicketkeeping duties.

Karun Nair, who struggled in England, could be left out, while N Jagadeesan, called up for the fifth Test against England, is expected to retain his spot. Akash Deep has not fully recovered, and Nitish Reddy may be considered as the 15th member.
