India clinched the Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship 2025 title beating host Iran with a 32-25 victory.
With this Indian women lifted a record-extending fifth Asian Kabaddi title.
This was the sixth edition of the Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship that was held from March 6 to 8, 2025 in the Iranian capital of Tehran. The tournament was held after a hiatus of eight years.
India entered the tournament as defending champions and successfully retained the title. They had defeated the Republic of Korea in the 2017 final in Gorgan, Iran.
Barring the 2016 edition in which South Korea won the title on home soil, India have now won the title in all the editions.
The tournament made Tehran the first city to hold the Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship twice, having previously hosted the tournament in 2007.
A total of seven teams competed at the Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship 2025. They were divided into two groups.
India were drawn in Group A alongside Thailand, Bangladesh and Malaysia, while Iran, Iraq and Nepal were clubbed in Group B.
After round-robin matches, the top two teams from each group progressed to the semi-finals, where India beat Nepal 56-18 while Iran handed Bangladesh a 41-18 defeat.

The 12-member Indian team had a mix of seven raiders, four specialist defenders, and an all-rounder.
Raiders: Sonali Shingate (Captain), Pooja Kajila, Pooja Narwal, Nidhi Sharma, Amrapali Galande, Neha Daksh, and Sanju Devi. Defenders: Jyoti Thakur (Right Corner), Sakshi Sharma, Bhavna Devi, Ritu All-rounder: Pushpa Rana (Vice-captain).
